About Us

Hi, my name is Scott Rasmussen.  Ever since I was about eight I wanted to go shooting with my dad.  He had the coolest gun, a Colt .22 caliber revolver.  For my ninth birthday he gave me his Remington .22 rifle he had as a boy.  I still have it.  He also gave me my first G.I. Joe and I still have that.  The notion of creating 1/6th scale guns came about from my love of G.I. Joe.  As a kid playing with Joe, I had a great time!  He was always ready for the fight and had the coolest guns a kid could ever want, right?  At the time they were cool, but as I grew and as my collection grew, I began to realize that my Joes needed better weapons.

So about ten years ago I decided to create a few to see how I could do.  The first one was a Thompson 1928A1 that I modeled from a Profile magazine.  I found a picture that looked just right for me to scale from. The overall measurements listed in the book also helped me.  I made the gun completely from brass and using hand tools, a soldering iron, and turning my Dremel tool into a make-shift lathe, I ended up with a respectable piece.

After working on the Thompson and really liking how it looked, I started modeling an L.C. Smith double hammer shotgun.  Making the barrels was fun.  Getting just the right taper on them was my goal...to test myself as a craftsman, and I succeded very well.  The barrels are made from brass.  The receiver is steel and is just a great little piece.  I have not ever finished this gun.  I was making it for my stepfather and he passed away in the middle of the project.  He was very much intrigued that I wanted to borrow his shotgun for this project and he gave me a lot of support for the project.  He was able to see the barrels made and fitted to the receiver, but that was all.  He died and with his death the end of the L.C. Smith.

Now I am making all kinds of guns for you 1/6th scale fans!  Each one is made on a by order basis.  The list of available models come from both the allies and axis arsenals.  The list is not complete and may never be complete.  If someone has a specific gun which they would like copied, I can do that then add that piece to the list, so my available list is virtually open.

Right now the available 1/6th scale guns that may be ordered are:

MP-40, MP-41, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine full stock or paratrooper model, M2 Carbine, 1911A1, Luger, MG-34, Thompson 1928A1 smooth barrel or finned, Thompson M1 or M1A1, Winchester 1873 rifle or carbine, 1873 Colt single action, Sten MK-II or MK-III.

Each miniature is created from drawings of that gun.  Every part is recreated in miniature and will function as the full size.  The degree of difficulty in making a particular gun determines the cost.  The more detail such as adjustable sights adds more cost and time to complete the gun.  Each part is manufactured as the original was with milling machine and lathe and a lot of hand work.  Be patient about delivery as it takes on average two months to make one gun.  Some take longer and you are welcome to email me for updates on delivery as often as you like.

Example.  The Sten MK-II that is shown on the home page has every part functioning as per the original.  A lot of man hours were spent in creating the magazine housing.  It functions not only to hold a magazine but also to protect the inner workings of the gun.  Pull the housing release pin and it rotates into position to cover over the ejection port.  Depress the magazine catch, and the magazine is released.

If you have a gun that you would like copied in miniature, I must have it to make scale drawings of.  It takes longer to make since I must first make the drawings, but the wait is worth it.  Email me with any questions please. Topcaliberminiatures@yahoo.com and I will respond usually the same day.

I will post more pictures here soon.
